The large irregular material in the center of the field is inertinite Note the extreme deformation of the other macerals around it that indicates that the inertinite was rigid when it was incorporated into the peat that formed the coal. The red material here is vitrinite. All of the yellow features are sporinite. The white spots are holes in the thin section are voids in the inertinite.
