The red structure in the bottom of the field is resinite. Note the deformation of the other macerals around the resinite. This indicates that the resinite was rigid when it was incorporated into the peat that formed the coal. The red matrix material is vitrinite and the black material is inertinite. The yellow material is sporinite. The white spot is a hole in the thin section formed during the polishing process.
