The red material here is vitrinite. All of the yellow features are sporinite. Note the large black fusinite/semifusinite in the center left. Note the deformation of the vitrinite around this maceral. This deformation indicates that the material was rigid when it was incorporated into the peat that formed the coal. The overall texture of this field shows vitrinite acting as a matrix in which all of the other macerals are embedded.
